Victor Weidensee

On July 1, 2018, Dr. Victor Weidensee left this earth. He was 95 years old. His entire life was one of giving. No matter the difficulty nor the danger, he gave his all. He loved his family and he loved Music. He filled his life with these loves.

Vic and his family moved to Rapid City, SD where the Black Hills Chamber Music Society was waiting for him. The personal nature of Chamber Music suited Vic, and he became synonymous with the organization. Under his strong, creative tutelage the Chamber Music Society added a Community Outreach component to its already established concert series. The “Society” became a respected organization in the music community of Rapid City and surrounding area.

As a new Board member several years ago, I was privileged to have Vic as my mentor. Working with him on the Chamber Music Board is a part of my life which I will always treasure. He was a great teacher, and was very patient with me. Vic was a brilliant, wise and generous man whose humor showed itself through a very funny, dry wit! He was indeed one of the great men in our community, a truly remarkable human being. He had a big heart, a fertile mind and the creativity to blend these two in ways that brought the beauty and fulfillment of music to all kinds of people in Rapid City.

The Black Hills Chamber Music Society bids Dr. Victor Weidensee farewell. May he have beautiful music with him throughout eternity.
