The Lincoln Trio was hailed as "one of the hottest young trios in the business" by FanFare Magazine in 2012. This exciting, young ensemble had been formed in 2003, taking its name from its home in the heartland of American, the Land of Lincoln. The Trio artists,
Desiree Ruhstrat-violin,
David Cunliffe-cello, and
Marta Asnovorian-piano, are praised for their polished presentation of established chamber favorites, and their ability to forge new paths with contemporary repertoire. Each artist is internationally renowned and preforms separately around the world. As the Lincoln Trio, they have toured throughout the United States, performing at various venues including Carnegie's Weill Hall, the Ravinia Festival, the Indianapolis Symphony's Beethoven Chamber Music Series, and Dame Myra Hess concert series. Internationally they have toured in Germany and parts of Asia. This first-rate ensemble draws an eclectic audience of sophisticated music lovers, admirers of contemporary works, and those discovering chamber music for the first time. As champions of new music, the Lincoln Trio has performed numerous compositions written especially for them. One of the highlights of the group's extensive discovery is the critically acclaimed, "
Annelies", based on the
Diary of Anne Frank, released by NAXOS in 2013. This recording was nominated for a Grammy in 2014.
"Thrilling. The Lincoln Trio communicated the joy of sheer technical ability, along with the unanimity of phrasing and beautiful balanced tone...they are one of the best trios that I have ever heard."
